Reminders and Announcements:
- It is a John Hay tradition for the entire Kindergarten class to have an evening picnic celebrating the completion of the year. This year it is scheduled for June 16th. See further information on the field trip page.
- We will celebrate all May birthdays on May 30th.
- We will celebrate all June, July, August birthdays on June 13th.
- I will be giving the DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) on May 15th and May 27th. Please try and have your child in school on those days, it is difficult to make up the test when I do not have a substitute teacher. Thanks!
Kindergarten Families,
I am planning to have "Piñata fiestas" for Kindergarten classes during the week of May 19th to the 23rd. I am planning on making the piñatas ourselves if we have enough parent's collaboration. I will need parents' help from May 7th to the 16th to make the piñatas and also during the week of the actual Fiestas. Parents can collaborate also with treats, candy, or little toys for the piñatas or even some newspaper and/or grocery size paper bags. I am asking parents to volunteer during Spanish time either at their own son/daughter's time or any time between 12:00 and 1:30 any day of the week. I will need help with the preparation as well as classroom management and hands literally on the paste.

- In math we will be working on place value by grouping and counting 10's and 1's, number patterns and number writing practice.
- Permission slips go out Wednesday for our next field trip. They are due back by the 15th.
